
Agra News : Development Authority and Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board took joint action on electroplating units being run in the narrow streets and residential areas of Agra. Two units of electroplating at Chini Ka Roja and Bhainro Nala were sealed.
State Pollution Control Board team on the electroplating unit in the house of Bhupendra Aggarwal’s Chanda Pan Wali Gali, Bhairon Nala Belanganj and Sudhir Sharma, 11/136 C, Chini Roza, Etmauddaula under Chatta Ward on Thursday afternoon. Sealed. This action was taken on the order of the Supreme Court to shut down the industrial units in the residential area. Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer were present with the mobile squad during the sealing.
There are 108 units of imitation jewelery and electroplating in the city, out of which 58 water connections have been disconnected. The report sent to the Taj Trapezium Zone Authority states that 26 electroplating units are running without water connection. Families are living in 14 units and the address of 10 units has been found to be incorrect. Torrent Power has disconnected the power connections of 31 such electroplating units being run without NOC from the State Pollution Control Board. Twelve units have been identified in Sewla, against which action will be taken.
Commissioner and TTZ chairman Amit Gupta has ordered Torrent Power and DVVNL to disconnect power connections of electroplating units operating in residential areas. The Ground Water Department has been asked to seize and shut down the submersible pump and the Water Works Department has been asked to disconnect the water connections. The Pollution Control Board has given instructions not to allow imitation jewelry units in residential areas under any circumstances.
